Dude, That's So Random!

I recently read a book (Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs) in which the author, Chuck Klosterman, talked about some of his peculiar traits that, well, made him unique. Which got me thinking...what is unusual (and even bizarre) about me? After some sober reflection, this is what I came up with: I

  • can stick my entire fist in my mouth.
  • can do a devastating Bullwinkle.
  • didn't get my driver's license until I was 24.
  • didn't graduate from college until I was 32.
  • have never seen Gone With The Wind.
  • loathe and am freaked out by the texture of flour.
  • hate clowns and anything circus related.
  • have never broken a bone.
  • have never attended a boxing match.
  • can make killer Rice Krispie treats.
  • put both of my clenched fists on either sides of my mouth when I am really excited.
  • have been a Seattle Seahawks fan since 1979, despite being a NYC native and an avid Yankees, Knicks, and Rangers fan.
  • have horrendous eyesight...-7.0 in both eyes.
  • have never lost at Trivial Pursuit.
  • supplied all the Gremlin belching for Gremlins 2.
  • give surprisingly good massages.
Here are some of my wife's traits. She
  • once lived on a Xmas tree farm.
  • has been to all 50 states except Rhode Island and Hawaii.
  • sleeps at least 9 and sometimes 12 hours a day.
  • can cook extremely well.
  • is obsessed with Chinese food.
  • is a diehard Eagles fan.
  • plans elaborate vacations 6 to 8 months in advance, including meals.
Please...share your quirks in the comments.

Why did your wife go to all those states? Montana, the Dakotas, New Mexico?

..Zach said I should answer--when I was young, my parents owned a business that basically ran itself, so they bought a huge R.V. (my dad doesn't fly) and for 2 consecutive summers we went to every single national monument, park, landmark- you name it. Great memories and lots of fun.

Before I post my quotes,
that is an awesome accomplishment, being to nearly all the states, Something I have wanted to do many times, and that gremlin belching trivia quirk thing is beyond hilarious :)

Your wife sounds extremely wonderful and organized, reminds me of my wife, who is sure to get to the cooking before I do, hehe.

My Quirks:

I:
*hate reality TV and TV in general, yet love Professional Wresting for its entertainment value, and VH1 for its geekyness

*Have never lost at Monopoly
*am a huge gremlins fan (how do you think i stumbled upon this blog :) )
*love shopping at the dollar store
*will play any music based video game I can find.
*have extremely eclectic musical tastes, from broadway to poe, to Gene Autry, to the muppets...and on..
*can see both sides of most situations, making arguments interesting.
*Love to read early drafts of screenplays that have gone through major changes, (Jurassic park 1st draft and gremlins 2nd draft from 4/27/82 are my faves that I own currently) The differences in tone in those films are astounding. both would have been extremely frightening films and probably "R" rated.
*Watch director/actor commentary for..
*the film trivia I am a huge fan of :)
*love to take the opposing side of debates, as a challenge.
*owned my own retail store at 19.
*collect TV box sets
*enjoy wearing geeky movie related things (Aliens marines patch on one of my jackets, along with Ghostbusters on another.)
*know and love to play "Go"
*Love learning about how things work, like the animatronics at Chuck E Cheese, or the way a water filtration plant works.

(by the way, I sent you an email zach, hope you had a chance to read it :) )

this is a cool topic. I can't think of too many, but here's a few.

I :

-used to be obese and lost over 100 lbs 2 years ago

-wrote a book (see Zach's 'Nothing Lasts Forever?' post)

-rarely watch TV shows but often watch at least one movie a day

-once went close to a year without talking to people, with very few exceptions

-lived in another country for over 14 years (I've been here for more than 10 now)

-finished college in 7 semesters

-used to have rabbits, cats, dogs, peacocks, geese, chicken, etc... (lots of animals, all outside)

Ling, You seem very cultured, what a great experience. If I only had the time, I'd love to do something like that with my kids.

I was going to read that book!

ok, here's mine...

-I'm 24 and still don't have my full licence. They keep failing me.

-I have also never broken a bone

- I have never been on a plane

-I use to have nightmares when I was kid that Ronald McDonald was chasing me down the hallway of my old house. I have absolutely hated clowns since then. Never watch the IT if you hate clowns. I did as a kid and that sealed the deal. You, me, and Johnny Depp. ALL CLOWN HATERS!

- When I was a kid I used to scrape off the cream in the oreo cookie and discard it because I thought the filling was "too sweet". The same goes with the caramel in the twix bars. Bleh!

_I also can sing in a very deep voice if I wanted too.

-I've never seen a full episode of Star Trek, Mash, Friends, 24, any of the CSI's, "All in the Family" or any soap opera.

-I felt strangely rejected by everyone on this blog when no one replied to my comment on zach's last post. I'm insecure like that.

-here's one of my brother's (don't tell him I posted this!) He really thought the world was once in black and white. LOL!!

-punctuation befuddles me.

I've never heard of a Movie Star/Wife Blog Combo. I think Zach and Ling are on to something. Ling, have you been in any movies?

DorkSpacergirl, we love everyone's comments- please continue posting. Regarding the previous post--Zach and I are flattered. And to answer your question, have never ACTED in a show/movie, but have worked in the business doing the nitty gritty work (that's how I met Zach). I am now a grateful 9-5er studying part-time for my M.B.A. I have many stories (AKA nightmares) about working in show biz- I will post soon.

I've never really been afraid of clowns per se, but the idea of the people under the make-up kind of scares me.

Scot, a friend of mine, also has an unnatural fear of clowns.

He also is freaked out by drag queens.

Coincidence? I think NOT!
