British Telecom Spot
People have been asking me lately if I've seen the BT spot that features gremlins. I have, and you can see it here.
People have also been asking if the tremendous response to the spot in the UK has in any way given momentum to future Gremlins projects, including a possible Gremlins 3.
The answer to that question is: in a way, yes. That's all I can say right now.
Additionally, a young man named Sacha Feiner has created one of the most astounding Gremlins clips ever. It really defies description, so if you're a fan, you can watch it here. But be sure to watch the jaw-dropping, hard-to-believe-but-true "Making Of" clip here. I guarantee you, you won't forget it.
And yes, I can tell you that the people responsible for Gremlins have seen it too, and are pretty darn impressed.

Hi Zach,
I've already seen all those videos (no suprise, lol!)-- but it is news to me that you would say that it sort of opens up a chance for a new film. Because in the two times I have had the privilage to meet Joe Dante, he has said he has no interest in doing a third one, mainly because of the studio would want to go with the CGI. Remember, he didn't even want to make a second one until Warner Bros. finally convinced him after years with the promise of "anything goes".
There were some rumors I heard about 10 years ago on the internet, saying a third one was in the works with Donald Petrie to possibly direct, and Rob Lowe was being considered for a villian. I also heard about 10 years ago an obviously false rumor on the internet saying that someone had spoken with you, and you told them that there is going to be a third film, it was going to be called "Hatched".
If a new film does become a reality (hope so!), I just hope they don't decide to do either one of two things: 1) Make it a "Direct To DVD" release, that would be an insult to the series; or 2) do a remake! Everyone seems to be doing that these days, where do I start? Prom Night, Halloween, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play, and even Poltergeist! I hope they don't decide to try to fix something that is in PERFECT condition!

Hi Zach! I hope Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment be on board for part III the same as for parts I and II in the gremlins film series also puppets and animatronics like the first two films and the BT television ad from the U.K. and I hope the third film is made for theathers worldwide.

yes a third film should be made, kids has been deprived from owning their own Gizmo toy for a while now, I remember being a kid and seeing Gizmo for the first time and thought yeah I have gotta have it!.
I also think the film should be mainly puppetry by CGI should be used to enhance difficult scenes of which puppets cannot do, famous films like Titanic had mainly visual effects blended with CGI which did no harm at all, the Gremlins are a box office domination, they can bring back classic TV series's like Doctor Who in britain, why not remake the film Gremlins?.
i always dremed about a gremlins 3, sacha is a really talentuous man and really sympathic,he's clever and great.....
